Soper Valley Model Railroad Association

About Us

The club was formed in 1978 to help spread the word of model railroading in the Bowmanville area. A permanent layout was started in the old grist mill located off of Simpson Avenue in Bowmanville. It is the home of the Visual Art Centre. Fast forward to 2011 where we are currently located in the Newcastle Community Hall. We are in the procces of building a new permanaent layout as well a modular layout that we take on the road to many of the shows we participate in over the year.

Soper Valley Model Railroad Association host two annual events each year, first is the Bowmanville Model Railroad Flea Market which is the 2nd Saturday in March and then The Bowmanville Train Show which is the first weekend after Thanksgiving.

Our weekly meetings are intended to be social gatherings with the minimum of business, the main aim being to spread the word about model railorading and have fun working on the layout or just talking about model railroading. New members are always welcome and you don't need to have a layout.
